Flippin’ heck!!! $1K!! Should have checked the price…thought it may have been cheaper in your neck of the woods!

For the best value and near guarantee of “extraordinary” seek out a bottle of 1976 Krohn Colheita Port … one mind blowing dessert wine in a 750 ml.
76 Meursault 1ers can be a revelation…
1976 López de Heredia Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva.
1976 TNs
76 DP is a winner as long as provenance is sound.
All great recs, thx everyone!
I second the Germany recommendation.
But to be on the safe side I would narrow it down to Saar and Ruwer. 1976 was best in these areas, where the acidity is usually higher than elsewhere.
A beerenauslese from that region and vintage can be magnificent!
Bosconia and Tondonia both great.
Recently had a '76 Breton Chinon - drank very fresh and clean and way within your budget. Consumed my bottle at Nice Matin, but the wine can be found at Crush (no relationship other than a good customer) http://www.crushwineandspirits.com/1976-Breton-Chinon-Blanc-Beaumont-6c308.aspx?Criteria=Search=breton&t=000
I’ve enjoyed the 1976 Rieussec a few times and would recommend it.
76 BV GDL if you want a cab
