Any GC at Disneyland???

Will be at the Happiest Place on Earth…(no not Favre’s house)…this weekend…Disneyland Ca…anyone know of some good Burg juice around?? Will be dining at Napa Rose thurs…which I imagine is the best shot at GC juice…,any others that might have the Grand Vin???

you must try Pluto’s Pinot!

go to winex or wine club, which is about 10-15 minutes away and pick up your own juice and pay corkage!

Napa Rose has a deep selection if I remember correctly. Definitely remember some DRC RC a few years back, dont’ know if it’s been changed.

Yup,

They had some DRC, including RC and Montrachet…pretty pricey though if I remember correctly (14k on the RC?).

We went with a Zin though, which was a better match with the short ribs… neener

Holy shit - I didn’t know they were that close!
Next time I will have to go to Disneyland just so I can visit Winex!! [highfive.gif]

Every now and again there’s something to amaze and surprise on this board for me. Not being judgy, mind . Just a sign of my limited world experience…

DRC at Disneyland?!?!???

They just dress up some kids in DRC costumes.

Napa Rose is an excellent restaurant, despite being in the Disneyland Grand California Hotel (which is a very impressive hotel). The ambience is a bit different – the dining room has brighter lighting than you normally see, and intermixed with the fine dining crowd are some families who are there to visit Disneyland and all, but it’s still an excellent restaurant.

I always BYO around here, so I haven’t focused too much on their wine list. It definitely has lots of big name and trophy wines, but I don’t know how bad the markup is.

Another restaurant near Disneyland with an excellent wine list is Mr. Stox. Driving maybe 15 minutes from Disneyland, I think the best restaurant in the area at the moment from a pure food / foodie standpoint is The Playground, in downtown Santa Ana. They don’t charge corkage, so bring your own wines (stop at one of the many good shops around central OC – Wine Exchange in Orange, Wine Club in Santa Ana, Best Wines Online), but the restaurant is exceptional. Make a reservation, as it’s not that big and it fills up.

How fun to have Mr. Buzz dignify our backwoods here with a visit!

Now you’re really hurting my feelings champagne.gif! I’ll put you down as 95+% now for the August 3.0 weekend now - start to look for bottles .

Mr. Stox has closed.

I have very little to add … Winex is a must-stop. Stock up and enjoy yourself. Hard to beat a delivery pizza and nice bottle in your room after a day of hustle, bustle in the parks.

Napa Rose–try the scallops!–is definitely worth doing, and serves their full menu in the lounge. Perfect for a quick(ish) meal. We probably did that three times the week we stayed at the Grand. Also, ask somm for recommendations on “bargain” bottles from the list. They usually have at least one or two. They’re not extraordinary deals, in real-life terms, but considering it’s Disney, take what you can get. (When we were there it was relatively well-priced Nickel & Nickel with just a 30% mark-up and a few other little things.) Carthay Circle is also OK, for dining, and worth doing for the reserved World of Color seating, taking into consideration it IS a theme park (read: adjust your expectations), but the focus there is the cocktail menu, not wine.

Can you just get your wife to let you go out with us while her and the kids take a nap after a rousing day at the parks? ;p

“you want to do WHAT???” deadhorse

I haven’t been there. It’s a fine dining restaurant located inside the California Adventure theme park, run by the same chef, Andy Sutton, as has been the Napa Rose chef since the beginning.

I’ve heard mixed things about it. One Disney exec I know told me that the challenge with that restaurant is that all the workers inside the park are unionized, so it’s hard to get the best food service people in that restaurant.

Just do Club 33 and get it over with. [cheers.gif]

Has anyone ever been there for dinner? Wonder what the wine list looks like…

Who’s the leader of the club,
That’s made for you and me?
A-U-B-E-R-T

Wine there is very tough. We have done a bunch of sommelier things there and its always tough. Like the above, go retail and BYOB.
However, there is a standout sushi place that is totally under the radar. Ohshima in Orange. Definitely try that.
