Any Foppiano Scuttlebutt?

The open sign is still out at Foppiano but otherwise it looks shut down. The grape elevator and sorting table that have always adorned the front lot are gone and all the vineyards are unpruned with canes reaching to the stars.

Is there something I haven’t read about? Or are they just scaling back production due to the wine industry climate?

Anyone know anything? I know Martin Ray bought them last year but is business that bad? Perhaps. Do you know anything @leslie_renaud ?

All is well! The receiving hopper and auger belonged in a museum more than in a production facility, and we removed them. I was literally having nightmares about that setup and its safety. We processed the fruit at Martin Ray last year as it is better equipped than Foppiano. We are in the process of adding much needed TLC to a facility built in 1896. Foppiano had been a custom crush facility, but we are moving away from that.

LOL thanks Leslie! Are they just not selling fruit this year? Those Chard, P/S and Zin vines are really looking unkept.

We’re taking this year to evaluate the health of the vineyard and figure out our re-planting plans.
