Any experienced members of Leonetti's list?

So after 5/6 years, this is my first opportunity to order and I’m excited, However I have no experience with either the Aglianico or the Sangiovese. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been on their mailing list forever (25 years +). I do stick to the Cab, Merlot and Reserve though. The others are well made but relative to the ones I buy provide less joy for me.

Before I got the boot, I used to buy mainly merlot and sangio, just because good domestic sangios are scarce. FYI…more and more Leonetti is showing up at retail around these parts, so I don’t feel so bad.

Chicago Wine Company used to have a ton of Leonetti at decant pricing but went there now and they only have one vintage of Merlot.

Merlot and Sangiovese are my two favorites. The CS and CS reserve were worth getting when they were not at today’s price point.

Opened the 2002 Reserve last night to mark a special occasion.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Breathtaking nose of red fruits, leather, scorched earth and cigar box. Rich, concentrated and powerful. Perfect balance of fruit and tannins. Currants, cassis liqueur, plums and tobacco on the palate. Impressive length on the finish. Brilliant wine that is shining at twenty years of age. This will drink well for years to come and I’ll open my last bottle in 2027.

I was never on their list but have had and have many of their wines. The Sangiovese is credible. It’s not Chianti, Brunello, or Emilia Romagna, but it’s a good job with a grape that’s not too common in the US, and it’s a good wine. Just don’t try to benchmark it against some preconceived notion - enjoy it for what it is. The Merlot and Cab will age nicely. Nice wines all in all.

The Reserve is really the only one we prefer. Honestly, I stick with Figgins now given the price point.

I did learn one valuable lesson. The Reaserve and Sangiovese did sell out on day 1. I’ll know better next year.

What is the current pricing on base bottling Cab and Merlots right now out of the winery?

$110 Cab
$85 Merlot

Mark Great value for the quality! We have a 16 Cab at an event tomorrow. Looking forward to tasting it. What decant time would you recommend?

Very interesting. Ten years ago that seemed expensive – now it is quite a good price if the quality is the same as earlier.

I really don’t know, I just started buying so I don’t have the data to help, sorry.
