Anderson Valley 2008 $33
Comptche 2008 $42
Peters 2008 $42
Tina Marie 2008 $46
No Abbey Harris or Demuth SVD’s from Anderson Valley, and allocations are less than half of last spring, so the impacts of the frost and fires are apparent.
I would love to buy all of these but I need to either pass on KB and/or Williams Selyem. Hell, I just keep buying cases of other stuff that is getting discounted and some of these '08s just don’t seem to have much value at their price points (note: not in reference to Anthill).
I am looking forward to trying the Anderson Valley, since it has all of the declassified Demuth and Abbey-Harris fruit this time. My allocation was 1-1-2 on the single vineyards, but something tells me the appellation wine will be pretty sweet.
Interesting to see not as much buzz as I would have thought about these wines. I put them in with Rhys and RM as some of the best California Pinot being made today.
Shipping and my local tax added about $8/btl to these prices.
I went for part of what I had been allocated.
Funny thing. earlier this year I picked up some of the 07s for about the same total cost per bottle (figuring less shipping and no sales tax) from retailers.
Picked some 07 from Saratoga Wine Exchange in June 09 for $45. There’s a place in NJ that has it now for the same price. Check Wine-Searcher for the 08 in a couple of months
I finally put my order in last night, and I was sent an updated invoice with the two extra Comptche I requested.
I only went for 4/2+2 of the Comptche and Peters in order to save $$. The AV sound promising, but I’m wary of 2008 AV fruit until I can taste. I hope to try the AV at retail in a few months, since it seems to show up here in SoCal. If it’s good, I’ll load up then.
