I agree with Jay using names would help. But since inertia will likely prevent that from happening, one of the things I do to sort out the notes is to designate as a fan any poster who either has 1000 bottles in their cellar or has posted 1000 tasting notes. When you do this their reviews are starred. Not perfect but I find it a useful screen for me.
I personally don’t care for people to know exactly who I am from my notes. Honestly I don’t care for real name requirements on forums at all, particularly when they can be used to tie me to very expensive hobbies and personal posessions in a way I can’t control. The internet never forgets.
Then again none of you would care for my notes anyway.
Hell, I am just going to send a comment to the people I follow yet cannot figure out who is behind their handle, and ask straight away who they are. I sent 2 already today so maybe I will get an answer.
I feel like I am waiting for XMAS morning to arrive, and it’s XMAS eve.
Yes. You try searching for it at a restaurant while looking at a wine menu and CT to cross check silly handles against real names. OR, as I just did, I got an email from Quilceda Creek about availability of their Columbia Valley Red Wine. I was curious. I looked at CT. 31 notes. No names I recognized. It is impractical to cross check 31 notes against a list of CT handles in an old Wineberserkers thread. A first world problem, I admit, but I fail to understand why people insist on anonymous handles. It’s as bad as people who pay a premium for a vanity license plate. Yeah, I know, a bunch of you probably do that too. IMNSHO, a complete waste.
