Another Crab-Stuffed Avocado Salad with Puligny - followed by Chocolate & Virtuoso

Tonight’s supper, out on on our patio under clearing skies after rain starting at 15:00. It was still sprinkling when we left for tasting at Susan’s, but was clearing with no more rain as we were leaving Susan’s. At home we had another crab-stuffed avocado salad - I mixed a couple tablespoons of our spicy tartare sauce into a 1/3 lb of crab, just before we left for Susan’s. The Mr. G’s greens were dressed with a granulated onion, granulated garlic, garlic pepper, Kosher salt seasoned mix of Meyer Lemon-infused olive oil and Champagne vinegar. The very ripe California Haas avocado was peeled, pitted, halved, and seasoned with lemon juice & SI Beau Monde Seasoning, placed on the dressed greens. and topped with the crab.

It was enjoyable on a very comfortable evening out on our patio with a lovely 2002 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrechat ‘Les Referts’ - medium green-gold in color; rich, complex nose % flavors of spicy pear, citrus, and green apple; complex mid=palate of spicy fruit with good acidity; and a very long rich, spicy fruit finish. Then as the sun was setting, we finished, cleared the table, and moved to the den for dessert and TV.

Dessert was TJ’s chocolate bars (milk for Carollee and 72% dark for me) with yet another 2006 Susana Balbo Late-Harvest Mendoza Malbec ‘Virtuoso’, a very good combination with chocolate. This was enjoyed while watching practice for the Belgian GP. Another enjoyable, delightful Santa Fe evening.
