Australian Wine Makers Push to Renew Sales in U.S. - WSJ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I’m guessing the people in Washington state are not so happy Jay Miller is reviewing their wines. The man leaves nothing but scorched earth behind him.

Have you seen many offerings of Washington state wines this week?
I have not.
I believe that the “Jay Miller” marketing strategy is not working out so well.
One supplier offered me some 2007 Oregon PNs.
Shirvington, anyone?
Frankly, with Parker’s tendency to give overweening scores to big wines without track records (esp Aussies), I think this has a been a long time coming. The economic downturn simply pushed that one over the top. Having said that, now that Mr Creosote is giving reviews, that certainly doesn’t help things much.
I wonder if the reduction in sales is across the board, or are certain brands still finding a market? I recently attended a Mollydooker 2008 vintage launch party, and while these wines stylistically are not in my wheelhouse, I found Sarah & Sparky Marquis to be very engaging & enthusiastic people. Not that it made me want to go out and buy the wines per se, but I could see them being very effective ambassadors for their wines specifically, and Australian wines in general.

MD wines are in many many discount box stores throughout the country, in huge floor stacks. The wines are not selling that well, except those that are loyal to their direct mailing list.
