Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt's Wine Named "Best Rose in the World"

I wonder if Jen Aniston thinks so? Nah, I really don’t.

The dynamic duo’s Chateau Miraval Rosé 2012 was ranked number 84 among Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the Year, making it the “best Rosé in the world,” according to a new press release.

So the obvious question is how many of you are going to flip this wine? pileon

yeah, it blows Tempier out of the water.

ooooh, mee, mee, mee [1928_middle_finger.gif]

(obviously not aimed at you, Scot. Funny how we find ourselves worried how we could be misunderstood)

Pretty silly, huh? Truth is, it’s actually quite a decent, even very nice Rose’. I even have a bottle (because it’s pretty nice, and I like the shape of the bottle, which I’m going to use as a water jug for the table). It’s not unfairly priced for the quality. But to call it best in the world is quite a stretch.

Move over Peyrassol, here comes Brangelina’s rose.

I’d be happy to just be able to sell it. [head-bang.gif]

I respect the fact that they released a well-priced, interesting wine from a region most people who follow their career may have never heard of before. So what if its not Tempier.

By the way, the wine was made by the Perrin family.

I had a chuckle when I saw this on the top 100 list. This is without a doubt the most obvious grab for attention and PR that I have ever witnessed WS pull. It seems to have worked as other media outlets have picked up this ‘scoop’. But to be fair, it keeps in line with WS being a great lifestyle magazine. I wonder how hard JS has been trying to land an interview with them? Can you imagine that video?

Those three together just might bring down the internet.

Are you sure it’s not the best looking rose?

+1

@ $20 per bottle it is well made wine…but agreed to say it is better than Ott, Pibarnon, Salettes, Terrebrune, Tempier or about a dozen other Bandols…and the hundreds of Côtes de Provence that are not even imported. Me thinks not. Did Bradjelina pay WS or the other way round?

True. I shouldn’t knock it before I try it. Just playin’

Obviously a move by their PR machine to call it the best rose in the world. In their wine wisdom, since the WS had it as their highest ranked rose, by default it became the best in the world. I need people like that around me, I need a little puffery now and then.

It just shows you what botox can do for a wine.

No doubt, that’s quite a contortion. Especially since WS doesn’t even purport to be ranking the 100 best wines in the world, but rather “the most exciting wines of the year.”

As always, we select the Top 100 based on quality (represented by score), value (reflected by release price), availability (based on the number of cases either made or imported into the United States) and an “X-factor” we call excitement. However, this year, we have given more emphasis than ever before to the X-factor—the intensity of interest the wines excited by way of their singularity or authenticity.

As others have pointed out already, it is actually a very good wine which I am happy to drink.
(I do find the new bottle shape to be somewhat unfortunate and much preferred the standard Bdx bottles under the previous ownership, but that is secondary  )

Funny, my wife told me about this today. I like your take by the way.

As I always tell my wife, I prefer buttocks over botox!
