An update for Ceritas fans

So last Friday I was able to finally visit Ceritas after waiting for years. It was a memorable experience, I was hosted by Mitchell and was lucky enough to have John there also to chat about the up coming harvest. I think for those of you who are fans of their wines there will be some significant changes to wines you may enjoy. They will no longer be sourcing fruit from Poter Bass (no surprise) but also Peter Martin Ray Chardonnay and to me more importantly Occidental vineyard. The vineyard was sold and John could not purchase the vineyard so after a long legal battle his contract was lost which is very unfortunate.
So, to make up for the loss of these vineyards he is getting fruit from KJ (yes that one) from vineyards they own on the Sonoma Coast with fruit they do not use due to low yields from heirloom clones. I can’t recall the exact names but you will see them in the future and he is very excited about the fruit coming from them. As far as harvest goes Pinot picking happened this week (chardonnay was already in tank) before the rains were to come but I’m not sure how many vineyards he picked. The fruit was in great condition with very good yields likely to occur per John. I hope this helps you decide on purchasing some more wine on future allocations since some of the vineyard bottlings it will be their last. Cheers
