I was looking for an old post on WCWN, where I used to participate a lot from say 1998-2006, and ran across another old post that made me chuckle. This was in response to a thread regarding wine mentors, back in 2004. One of mine:
“Peter Liem - A young wine savant, who’s worked at Wine Club and Liner & Elsen, worked with German importer Ewald Moseler, was the other half of the Riesling Report team, as well as one of the founders of Vigne, Portland’s best wine bar. Now working for a retailer in New York City, Peter has an amazing knowledge and understanding of wine, especially for someone around 30 years old. He has a great palate, and opened my eyes (as well as other wine lovers in the city of Portland) to Austrian wines and grower Champagnes, neither of which were well represented here until he requested them. If he ever finds a niche that will keep him challenged and happy, he’ll be famous in wine geek circles.”
I think Mr. Liem might have found his niche?
