Amsterdam restaurants?

It’s a good list!

I would add the following at least (for ffood, not wine):

Pizza Project (Wilhelminastraat)
NOAH Lieven
Yuan’s hot pot (several locations)

bakery: Le Fournil de Sébastien (best in Amsterdam)

This is the best list so far! I agree with @Mikael_OB , but for bakeries you have to add Levain et le Vin too. The owner Florence also imports Laval, Prieure Roch and many other good names.

Thank you @Mikael_OB , added your suggestions. Same to you @MadsW. Looking forward to trying some of the recs when out in August.

We are heading to Amsterdam for a week in Sept. for the first time in a while (don’t know how that happened) and need current restaurant suggestions. Food is important; wine is not. Any further updates?
Thanks!

Mark - I have a good friend whose food opinion I value who is going there next month. I’ll be sure and pass along his experiences. Jonathan and I haven’t been in years.

Thanks very much! I enjoyed your Galicia pix.

Now that’s where you should really be going…

Maybe in 2025, if our home renovation is timely and within budget!

I like BAK.

Thanks, Robert. Booked. Unsurprisingly, it looks to be right up our alley.

Daalder has been our favorite. have been several times, always wonderful food and excellent but not overbearing service.
Caveat being haven’t been back since early 2020 but I would guess it’s as good as ever.

Also, if you get a hankering for Indonesian, Restaurant Blauw is our go to.

Tom

Daadler has moved and not sure it’s the same. Would be interested in an update.

Thanks, Tom. We haven’t been to Blauw in awhile. And I see that Tempo Doeloe is now closed, so Blauw it will be!

Great list. Thanks!

BAK is great and has a versatile list.
Choux has been deserving of a star for years, and it’s the best vegetable forward restaurant in the city. Love the radical low intervention wines. Last time a tresor d’ aiglepierre was on the list for 200€.
Gebr. Hartering has a wonderful bistro style kitchen and a wine list with a lot of gems.
Kaagman en Kortekaas cooks French style too, and is a nice and lively place.
Cafe Remouillage is a bit smaller but a very nice place for a cozy night.
Coulisse is maybe one of the newer high end additions, and I honestly haven’t tried it, but some importer friends recommended it.
Entrepôt is kind of laidback and still a solid kitchen.
If you’re looking for a good glass of something, I always end my nights at Bar Centraal or Glouglou. A slightly effervescent chilled super natty grolleau is kinda the best way to end for me :man_shrugging:

I was going to recommend Daadler too. We went there in April 2023 and it was a fun time.

Was in De Pijp to get some things for our weekend (magnum of Elise Dechannes randomly stocked by a wine shop) , stopped in Fa. Pekelhaaring for lunch with the fiancee. Good italian food, decent quality list that isnt gougy. Really enjoyed the ravioli. 70eu for 1 app, 2 mains, 3 glasses of wine.

Headed to BAK tonight as a last hurrah before the extended families/friends arrive and wedding things start to pick up.

How did BAK do? Had a look through their list — good wines but the price is up there these days…

We really enjoy visiting when we come to Amsterdam. Felt it was as good as our last visit. Only needed 5 courses and we were both full. Interesting flavors and mix of ingredients. We do miss when you could select your courses, but that was 2+ years ago and it feels like they are trying to “michelin” their service.

We had the B.17 bistrotage for 136eu. They had Ulysse Collin Les Maillons at 280eu and '20 Bouchard VV at 230eu to give other champagne price points. Wasnt too interested in the reds. Burgundy red list wasn’t as long. They def had a longer list of Burg/Jura whites

Shisho leafs with a beetroot and berry mix and savory foam

Lingonberry and some other ice cream sandwich.

Got to talking with the somm about the mag of Clos de la Roilette they were pouring as part of the tasting and he started pouring us some of them so that was nice.

Love the Bistrotage. And yep that looks a bit more presented/staged than my previous visits. Have a good wedding!
