I don’t think there’s ever been an Amsterdam offline (?), however with @MadsW stopping by this might be the first, at least the first for us, but hopefully not the last.
It will be a mix of locals, Mads of course, and perhaps some other WBs? We only have a few spots open due to the below though.
We have secured a smaller semi-secluded section with our friends at Cafe Maurits, who has a new kitchen team (we look forward to see what they are up to!) and a always great team running the floor.
For our meet up they have kindly allowed a no corkage BYOB (doesn’t happen in Amsterdam!), however we intend to be generous with the tip of course. They also have a good wine list btw.
Theme - “Bring a bottle that you been looking forward to open”:
We have our mind set on a 5-6 course meal, and will try to coordinate with the attendees (as far as possible) to have the wines pair with the dishes but let’s see how that goes. Fun if it works but should be a bottle you have looked forward to open after all!
Could be a blind or not (dishes know in advance), still TBD
Hoping a couple of Benelux based or visiting WBs might join us!
Could be just wishful thinking but IIRC @Robert_Dentice planned for an Amsterdam visit, perhaps globetrotting @Mikko_Tuomi, or…
A shame, I’ll keep your dates in mind in case there might be an opening to arrange something.
Though happy to hear that you both might/will visit Amsterdam!
My schedules (private/work) start getting quite busy along with Easter. Even if I might not be able to arrange a “proper” event, we can be in touch via PM a bit closer to your dates nonetheless.
Update and maybe last call (?) - we have assembled nice (WBs, ITB, wine lovers…) and good sized group, with room for one, perhaps two more persons as it looks now. Ideally we want to keep at 8 in total.
We’re tweaking a multi-course of 6-7 courses that will remain affordable. The suggestion is to serve the wines blind, however each attendee is free to serve the wines as they prefer (blind or not).
BTW, I love seeing this, as I am planning a trip to Amsterdam/The Netherlands just to engorge myself on the Dutch Masters…I will need to reach out in the Fall (anticipated visit timeframe) to have another one!
