Am I washing my glasses wrong??

I hand wash my glasses after use, with a little dish soap and water…sometimes hot water, sometimes just cold. Dry them right after washing with a microfiber towel. WHY does my glasses look like this, especially when drinking bubbles or white wine? Droplets of wine stick all over the bowl…I hate it!

I tried soaking them in warm water and vinegar, baking soda, for an hour…seemed to help a little but didn’t get rid of the droplets. What am I doing wrong here?

Seems more like a wine problem? I have had low viscosity wines do that. But good weight 1er or GC show wonderful legs.

I dunno if it will help with this specific issue, but I use Stem Shine, works great

Seems expensive, but each glass literally just needs a drop, a bottle lasts a very long time.

I used to hand wash with this. But then I got religion (translation I got a Bosch DW that could handle wine glasses). Not to mention the sea change with decanters that were at long last clean. Scrubbing/denture cleaners never did a damn thing with the stains, one turn in the DW and decanter is brand new.

Yes, we just got a Bosch about 4-5 months ago and it has been VERY nice to have a dishwasher that works well with the wine glasses.

I have a Thermador which is made by Bosch - works perfectly and never hand wash anymore

New religion!

Amen
my only mistake was when we re did the kitchen we just got 1 dishwasher. Would have been wise to get the “glasses only” dishwasher was a second one as my Thermador can really only do 8-10 glasses at a time depending on which size glasses are being used

My Bosch is 12+ years old and it works great with glasses. Still need to hand wash the rim depending on who is drinking.

I actually have a Bosch, and it does a great job, but I find racking them very awkward, they always feel as if they’ll clink against one another and break (they haven’t, but I don’t do it often for this reason)

Not sure why you would mix vinegar and baking soda. Vinegar is acidic and would work for hard water stains. Baking soda just neutralizes it. If you have hard water, it won’t help. But that doesn’t seem to be the problem at all, nor does your washing. I’ve never used a dishwasher so have always washed dishes by hand - we use the dishwasher for storage mostly.

But as others have said, it seems to be the wine you’re drinking, not the glass. In any event, I wouldn’t imagine the taste of the wine is impaired by the drops, which is the main issue. We’re going to watch our glasses tonight b/c I don’t think I’ve ever noticed whether the wine leaves drops or not.

Wonder if the microfiber is leaving a film of some kind? Try an ordinary kitchen towel that you know is clean.

Do you dry your wine glasses upside down?

Does the wine taste different if you close your eyes?

In my craft beer days the brewers would say the pint glass was dirty if it left suds or droplets behind. I always assumed that carried over to wineglasses. I hand wash with a light scrub and rinse with an air dry after each personal use and then every couple weeks I put them in the Bosch. If company is coming over I always run the glasses I will think we will use thru the wash before and after. Same process for decanters. I would run thru the wash all the time but the Grassl don’t fit in my Bosch unless I lower the top rack all the way down and take the utensil rack out.

Had friends over a couple weeks ago. Six of us went thru a lot of glasses and decanters. Took almost two days to get all that washed.

I just use dawn and rinse it out and air dry upside down. No hand drying necessary.

I just wash them with hot water and wipe them with a non scented papper towel right away.

I spent a lot of money on 2 Miele dishwashers a few years ago. Waste of money. I get a spot on the rim and the base of the stem that has to be wiped down after every wash. My KitchenAid dishwashers that I installed at our summer home for half the cost do a perfect job, don’t break down like the Miele’s, and don’t require constant fiddling with the racks.

I do think I remember Parker telling me once that he never uses soap to avoid a taint, just the hottest water he can stand. If I hand wash, that’s my MO.

Same here. Only the slightest drop of diluted dish soap, but only if greasy smudges linger.
I have not run my dishwasher more than three times, since 2003 installation.

What are the glasses? GGG, Zalto?
