Made for many years by Williams Selyem and farmed by the Rochioli family, this has long seemed an ideal vineyard for an estate bottling. Got the release yesterday. A single Pinot Noir available in 750mL with some limited mags by request. $70 retail, well below WS price. Made by Matt Casalenuovo and his wife Camille Allen Casalenuovo. Both are trained winemakers who have worked around the world. Think this could be an exciting project. I’m jumping in from vintage 1. Any one else get the offer and buying? Imagine there will be a Chardonnay available in the future, and hopefully individual block wines.

Can’t comment on the wines but met Camille last Summer at Kistler (her day job) and she was delightful

Bought 4. The W-S bottling was my favorite pinot.

I’m in for a four pack. My first job in the biz was working at Gary Farrell. The Allen, along with Rochioli bottlings (from GF and Selyem) we seminal to getting me into wine. My real first “a-ha” moment with a wine was a 1989 GF Allen Pinot that was 20 years old. I’ve had the chance to speak with Matt and swing by his day job at Coursey Graves. I’m excited to pop one of these and to see what he does at the helm at CG.
Full Disclosure: The winery work for has been buying Allen Chardonnay via the Rochioli family since 2021.
