I would assume that Shafer would be on most lists. Looking for those that will be something special at age 10-15 years from vintage. TIA

'91 Stag’s Leap Vineyard wines, even the “Napa”, are drinking very well now, still on the youthful side actually. I haven’t kept track of recent performance or vintages, but given decent storage, 10 -15 for any “good” Cal Cab should be no problem at all…

And why would you drink Shafer earlier than 10 years; I understand popping one early to see where it’s…
A list of NAPA cabs drinking well after 10-15 years would be quite long.

Haven’t had it in about 5 years but clos du val reserve? Possibly pine ridge? I’m sure others will have better suggestions.
Mondavi Reserve, Phelps, Diamond Creek, Shafer, Ridge, etc. I have a 87 Mondavi Reserve in the lineup for Christmas and from the notes I’ve read lately it should be singing.
If winesearcher pro is any indication, there doesn’t seem to be much of this available. Is it a mailing list wine?
Yup.
I’ve had 10 year old Hartwell cab that was terrific and in no danger of fading soon.
Same with Pine Ridge ‘Epitome’.

Hartwell has had some ups and downs.
I will say that the 1994 Hartwell Grace Vineyard was amazing at age 12.
I don’t follow them closely, but an '03 last year was terrific and I have high hopes for an '06 Reserve, based on some nice CT reviews. Was there a certain stretch when they underperformed, or do you feel it’s a year to year inconsistency?
As for the '94, I’ve seen it a few times at auction and been interested, as it’s our anniversary year, but never took the leap. Next time I will, based on your rec. Thanks.
Late nineties were green and underwhelming to me. When Benoit got there, quality went up a bit. Have not had anything recent.
Got it. Thanks.
Anything that Robert Brittan has made will be age worthy.
Any ideas why a prestigious area like Stags Leap seemingly has such a dirth of age worthy wines?

One reason is because it is so small. About 90% of the whole AVA is owned by Shafer, Stags Leap Winery, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Clos Du Val, Chimney Rock, Phelps, Quixote, Pine Ridge, Mondavi, Cliff Lede and Phelps.
In addition to those mentioned by others, I think Chimney Rock makes pretty nice Cabs that might age well. Their prices have crept up a lot lately, though. Then again, I think most Napa Cabs are best by age 12. Even the age-able ones.
1992-1994 Clos Du Val Reserve Cabs all drinking well the past two years.
