Add someone to a thread

Two friends have joined in the last 24 hours. Are they in limbo for a bit? I’ve tried to add them to our club thread but not having any luck. Is there an FAQ on site navigation? Thanks, Bob – Oakland CA

Every registration goes through the manual process of confirming validity with regards to the forum rules regarding real names as well as the attempt to match email to name/username. If they didn’t follow directions (as a shockingly high number do not) they will not be approved right away and the moderator will notify them of the need to make changes prior to activation.

As for ‘adding them to a thread’ once activated they can simply join any thread and post within it

OK, good, I appreciate that. Now in terms of adding or not, it seems that there is a + or remove option that looks like one could add someone with the + command. Is that not something that happens on a regular basis in WB threads, where someone is in an interesting thread and adds a friend who they believe would also be interested?

I don’t understand why you have to ‘add’ someone to a thread. You mean to a group private message? On a thread, if you want to tag someone, just use the tag function (the @ symbol and their username, be sure it is correct, as the usernames will populate and if it’s at all misspelled they won’t see it). That’s how to ‘add’ someone, by tagging them. For example, if I want to add Brig Campbell to this, I will simply tag him @brigcampbell

Hi guys! You rang?

Bobby, do you mean adding to a public thread like this, or to a private message thread?

We have a public Thread, I think it’s public, called Oakland Wine Club. It is quite possible that it’s private and I can’t tell the difference. I was able to add one of my friends to that thread this morning, I think, so I think I’m good. But thanks for checking in!

Well, I see (have followed a bit, because I live in Fremont) your threads, but it seems like you are talking about a private messaging thread, because there’s nothing around that matches your description. If it’s a “message” thread, you’ll see a little envelope at the top right of the first post, and you’ll see a list of participants at the bottom, as well as a button to allow you to add or remove participants.
