A trio of really excellent recent wines

Very brief notes:

*Alesia 06 San Mateo County. Mentioned elsewhere, a beautiful pinot with syle and structure. Even better on the second night.

*Copain 06 Syrah “Brosseau” Chalone AVA. Wow and wow. This one had everything - power, intensity, purity and balance. And will continue to improve.

*Dehlinger 05 “Claret.” Tom Dehlinger makes great Cabs. More finesse and elegance than pure Cal-Cab power, this one was really singing by mid-bottle.

Excellent! I’ve been wanting to see some notes on the Dehlinger '05 Claret. I have a couple bottles, and never know when to open them, as Dehlinger historically is best left sitting a while.

Mine didn’t come close to seeing a second night. In a highly uncharacteristic move for her, my wife picked up my glass, took a sip, then without uttering a word walked out of the room with the glass. From that point on, that bottle was a goner.
