A tribute to a small Oregon producer label, Gypsy Dancer, being retired

I’ve been a fan of Gypsy Dancer since 2005 when we visited the winery on a lark and met the owner/winemaker, Gary Andrus, formerly of Pine Ridge and Archery Summit, an avid trout fisherman, Burgundy hound and an Olympic Downhiller.

I tasted through all of his wines which at that time consisted of a few Pinot Noir and a Pinot Gris and loved them all; so much so, I signed up for the wine club to blindly receive wines purely on a trust level. I’d never done that with any winery before or since. Thankfully, I was never disappointed as every wine has been stellar.

Gary passed in 2009 and thanks to his wife, Christine, the brand was continued in 2013 made possible by some of the winemakers Gary mentored among others stepping in to make the wines.

Sadly, after 21 years, Christine has just announced “The Last Dance”, a final celebration of the project/ label to be held mid October.

I am extremely grateful for all of the wondrous wines I’ve enjoyed over the years and feel blessed to have known a righteously good person who lived his dreams to reality and wish Christine and the children the very best moving forward.

Cheers,
Blake

Enjoyed visiting Christine once in Carlton at her tasting room. I believe she also hosted Yoga there as well. She embodied the true spirit of the Williamette valley wine community.

Nice. Thanks for the add on.
