A Roberto selection I actually liked!

While out in LA this past July, I stopped by the Wine Expo to finally meet Roberto. I think I first started to see his posts back in the late '90’s on the AOL wine forum, then I think on Garr’s Wine Lover’s Discussion group, so I wanted to finally put the face to the man. Granted, after trying some wines he suggested over the years and finding them, um, interesting, I did not seek out any wine suggestions. Rather, I asked him to pick out a beer for me. His choice, the Hair of the Dog Brewing Company- Ruth American Pale Ale.

Well, it got lost in my fridge until last night. Finally popped it with some swordfish and man, oh man! Great beer! Definitely my new favorite beer of the moment and maybe my favorite American Beer alongside the Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA.

Hair of the Dog is great stuff - out of Portland. I’m a big fan of their holiday beer, Doggie Claws - but it’s a huge, high octane barleywine. Also, if you can find it, the Rose Cassis is just delicious.
