That’s not really the reason I prefer to drink non-blind. My preference to know what I’m drinking when it’s a random Beaujolais is just as strong as when it’s a La Tache. For me, it comes down to the fact that every brain cell occupied with trying to figure out what something is, is a brain cell not occupied with appreciating it.
Pohlman?
Don’t tell Dan!
I’ve been in the warehouse on numerous occasions, some with Scott, and the temps have been much colder than 60. The wines on the list are stored in the onsite cellar at 50 degrees. Bern did purchase old wines at auction in London decades ago with the assistance of Harry Waugh. Many of those purchases were during the 60’s IIRC. I’ve had most of the wines Eric listed including the 1873 RS, and of course the 19th century Bordeaux were not purchased on release. Still, if you want to drink mature wines at great prices, I can’t think of a better place to do so. Their list has taken a pretty good hit over the last few years as far as top wines in top vintages go, but they still have an incredible selection to choose from.
