I was looking at an old article which included a vertical from 2014, and found this map which the Moueix family had provided at the time. I thought it might be of interest to the Magdelaine lovers here.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing Mark
A perfect rendering of the scene of one of the greatest crimes in Bordeaux history.
Is that “la madeleine” just a typo and missing a “g”? And it’s interesting that the map spells it as “la Magdeleine” rather than Magdelaine, like the chateau.
Clos La Madelaine is an adjacent vineyard that is now owned by the Moueix family.

Hi Mark (@Mark_Golodetz) , do you happen to know, which plots in this map are the Magdelaine ones and which ones are Belair Monange?
The map shows 58 acres (23.5 hectares) and Madelaine was a total of 11.3 Ha according to Jeff Leve’s site (Thnx @Jeff_Leve) . So just over half of the map must be Belair-Monange vineyards.
Here is what Jeff’s site says; “The 11.3 hectare St. Emilion vineyard of Chateau Magdelaine is planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The terroir is limestone and clay soil. The vineyard is one large parcel, with a terroir that can be divided into two sections, with 6 hectares located on the Saint Emilion limestone plateau while the remainder of the vines is planted on the slopes.”
thnx Brodie
La Madeleine is the name of the lieu-dit…
Sorry, no.
I spent some time with Eduard when I wrote an article, but don’t have the notes I am afraid.
Has Belair Melange changed for the better since the incorporation?
I have a fun horizontal of 2011, which includes Magdelaine and BM, that I’m ready to do with some buddies.
