A first: I just added Merlot to my cellar!!!

Ridge 09 Monte Bello “Torre Ranch.”

Who knows what wacky thing I’ll do next? Buy Burgundy??? [wow.gif]

Thanks for the tips. Did not see any email about this… [SWJ] Check my email, I already bought this in “Historic Vineyard Series” offering …
Stop resisting and get into the dark side …

I bought some white zin last year**, so I guess we all make exceptions.

**2009 Dehlinger Rose of Zinfandel x 4 bottles. Pretty good, actually.

Yes. [winner.gif]

Mike I think we need to sit down with a nice Pagani Ranch to clear your head [cheers.gif]

Hmmmmm … the Zinhead buys some Merlot. I’m surprised? I guess I am: I’m surprised this was the first time! [wow.gif]

As long as you don’t drink it…

Didn’t a famous scene in a wine film recommend against this sort of insane activity ?

Let’s not say something you are going to regret later. Remember my mom’s old adage… “if you can’t say something bad about Burgundy, don’t say anything at all.”

Good point Roy!

“Honey, where’d you put the Valium?”

Go on a roll and try the House Family Merlot. Saratoga fruit (showing a hint of licorice) made by Jeffrey Patterson.

Wes, this sounds easier on my wallet (not to mention my reputation) than Burgundy. Where do I find this Saratoga Merlot elixir?

Seriously, I’m a big fan of Jeffrey Patterson. I just ordered a couple of bottles. [cheers.gif]

Mike:

I posted on some wines that we drank last weekend, one of which was the 1992 Ridge York Creek Merlot. A stunning wine at 19 years old. I bought on release and have opened my last one last weekend. We bought and drank a lot of that wine and the 1990 Ridge Bradford Mountain Merlot in the 90’s. I would have no hesitation buying more Ridge Merlot’s; unfortunately, I missed the window on the Torre Ranch. Hopefully there will be a next time.

Thanks,
Ed

I wish Ridge still had their Cabernet Program. A lot of good wines there, including Merlots. The Merlot in the upper vineyard, just above the winery, is so good it always makes the Monte Bello blend these days. I think that’s what made their SCM Merlots of the early '90s.
