Met up with a friend and our wives for dinner at L’Apicio in NYC. Couldn’t make it to the no corkage nights, but $25 per bottle wasn’t bad for enjoying these with a terrific dinner.

1995 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (7/16/2014)
Just outstanding. Wonderful nose, plenty of fruit balanced with tannins. Graphite, some leather, some dirt. Nice long finish. Plenty of life ahead, wish I had more. (94 pts.) -
2008 Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Pur Sang - France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé (7/16/2014)
Dynamic, complex wine with super acidity and a nice balance of fruit. Terrific with grilled octopus, and while a full bodied wine, it didn’t overpower the food. Finish that went on and on… (92 pts.)
