A Coupla 2019 PYCM's

Both very good.

2019 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune: A fresh nose of flint, mint, lemons and stone fruit. It has delicious fruit flavours and plenty of mineral in the mouth. It is perfectly ripe and backlit by bright acidity. Balance is excellent and the usual PYCM chalky dry extract punctuates the finish.

2019 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Bourgogne-Aligoté: A nose of smoky mineral, fresh lemon and spearmint. The palate is intense and linear, with very good richness. It has so much citrus and good build. It finishes bright and energetic and has plenty of material upon which to age.

Hi Jeremy,

Would you be in a position to compare PYCM’s 2019 Aligoté with Roulot’s? I recently opened the latter and found it a lovely wine, with many of the descriptors you note: smoke, citrus, mineral, though maybe not spearmint. Very chiseled and very Roulot. Is PYCM’s brighter, bigger, and perhaps at times blowsier, as his others can be?

Hi Joshua,

Can’t ever recall having a Roulot Aligoté as the Aussie importer never brings it in, so not much help with a comparison I’m afraid.

Cheers
Jeremy
