We’ve been taking incessantly about this dinner for some time now so we decided to finally do this dinner at Odys + Penelope in LA.
An excellent restaurant from the Hatfields.
The beef and pork ribs from the brasero. The beef ribs being my favorite and probably the best beef BBQ in town.
Grilled branzino was very good. The chicken thigh wrapped in bacon was marred by a sweet date cream sauce. The only failure of the night.
The porchetta (dry rubbed pork loin) was tasty but a bit heavy on fennel and a bit light on porchetta.
Chocolate and peanut butter tart was outstanding.
I just wish corkage wasn’t a strict 2 bottle max. Although it was waived for the evening.

1990 Krug Champagne Clos du Mesnil - France, Champagne (9/12/2016)
Incredibly rich and sweet. This one was not the freshest bottle of 90 mesnil I’ve had but man 90 mesnil is just so insanely good. -
1995 Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru (9/12/2016)
Double decanted for sediment 1.5 hours prior. Meat, smoke, and earth on the nose along with some macerated cherries and spice. A touch of bacon. Smelled stemmy even though I hear Jayer de-stems. Incredibly balanced and the most elegant 95 I have had by far. Smells and tastes like a more elegant 95 Dujac. Weightless but with substance.
