This vintage fits the Prieuré Roch house style so well (more on that below). They label this “Rouge” and it is 100% PN.
FWIW this is one bottling where the additional ripeness puts this year ahead of 2010 in terms of completeness.

2012 Domaine Prieuré Roch Coteaux Bourguignons - France, Burgundy, Coteaux Bourguignons (1/2/2015)
Spicy cassis at the outset. First the wine expands to ripe raspberries, continuing with the fruit dominated theme. Later the wine darkens and takes on a serious ferrous mineral profile, fruit becomes subdued and an earth, clous de girofle compliments.
Palate evolves similarly. It commences a bit light, easy and fresh. It tightens with tannin, the fruit becomes more gourmand, acidity remains but takes a secondary role.

FWIW, these are 100% WC, 100% new oak and extremely light / well judged maturity + extraction. I have yet to have an “ordinary” bottle, each one is a firework display of fascinating aromas. And I have yet to have one where the oak distracted.
There is a wealth of succulent 2012 fruit balanced by a healthy dose of mineral and spice. I would happily buy a case but I would fear that it would disappear in under 2 weeks time.
After a few hours of being opened I would have guessed NSG, easily Villages level if not a bit more elevated in class, based on the substantial streak of iron. Apparently the vines are below VR.
