'97 San Felice Chianti (Poggio Rosso) & another Michel Gros

  • 1997 Agricola San Felice Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio Rosso - Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico (5/31/2009)
This is drinking great now. Tertiary aromas are in full force: leathery, spicy, earthy, a hint of pepper and yes some black cherry too. Loads of black cherry on the palate balanced with rustic, grippy tannins, and just the amount of acid you’d expect from a well produced Chianti. While drinking well now I see some upside to this and a very long life, (based on the acid/tannin profile.) (92 pts.)

Can’t keep my paws off these, then again, that’w what they’re for. Opulent fruit, a hint of toast on the nose, great balance and a nice finish. Great now and could easily last 5-10 years.
