82 Dom Pérignon with crooked label. Should I be concerned?

I recently picked up a bottle of 1982 DP from a reputable retailer. The front label is crooked and pretty worn looking. I have seen worn, but never crooked like this. Is this out of the ordinary? I suspected a label swap maybe? Am I being overly worried about fraud? Is the year/vintage printed on the cork of DP? If so I could just remove the foil to confirm the year. Thoughts anyone?

I doubt that a counterfeiter would make a questionable-looking bottle as such, a self-defeating exercise. Also, the bottle may have been previously in an ice bath, loosening the label.

It does seem like there would be better things to counterfeit if that was your MO. Good point on the ice bath!

+2 for possible ice bath.

Anytime I`ve had a label shift is when the bottle got warmed up when my stand up wine cellar went on the blink, was undiscovered for a few days, condensation formed loosening some labels. As it turned out, the wines effected drank OK, but i was very concerned about them oxidised. This could be more especially true for older labels where the glue was not as substantial as what is being used today.

I would be concerned for one reason or another. The label almost certainly didn’t start out crooked, so however it got that way should be concerning. Open it and let us know how it drinks. I love old DP. Had the 1978 DP 10 days ago and it was stunning. Much better than I was expecting.
