Three excellent white Burgs over the past three nights.

2023 Sylvain Cathiard Bourgogne-Aligoté: An expressive nose of custard apple, ripe peach and preserved lemon. It is generous and full, with something cheesy/leesy providing a savoury counterpoint. Good energy and balance, despite the softness of acidity. Long and citrussy

2022 Blain-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet, Grand Cru : Very youthful but very good. Plenty of spicy oak, commensurate with the level of deep, sappy orchard fruits. Fruit, spice and mineral flavours envelop the palate. It is silky but with underlying chalky tension. It finishes with great authority and drive and for its size shows a high degree of elegance.

2021 Domaine Marc Morey & Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru En Virondot: Some smoky mineral, yellow fruits and a suggestion of fig. Plenty of spice and good shape in the mouth. Textural and flinty. Generous yet contained. A big squeeze of lemon to the finish. Starting to drink really well.
