96-98 points. Good wines all.
Fwiw anyone can book an appointment and taste with them in Napa Valley. The difference is active list members get a much better deal on that tasting.
I did a tasting with Nigel and a couple friends two years ago. It definitely ranked up there with one of the better tastings Iāve ever done both the Wines and the personality.
Just to clarify -I wasnāt there. Posting for a friend .
Corrected.
Got an allocation this morning. Kodo (1) and Aphex Cs (3).
Iāve never had any Kinsman wines and Iām debating it.
It seems like this is an auto buy for a lot of people even at this price point, is the quality that good?
There are some cult followers of KE but I think that will be something you have to decide based on how you invest in your wine choices. Also, do you prefer the Kodi or Aphex style?
I have no idea what style I prefer between those 2 considered Iāve never tasted
You do you but IMO Kinsman is making some of the n=best wine coming from Napa. That includes his other projects like Wheeler or Bella Oaks. Well balanced old school style that does need significant aging to myself.
its all legit even with me being a mountain wine snob i appreciate their portfolio
IMO KE is not old school styleācertainly big and ripe but have the structure to back it up.
I guess ripe is relative. They are big and structured but I would call them balanced.
Just opened the 21 Anjea. Big, needs a decent to open but great tannin profile. Lots of black and mixed berry notes with spice. Well balanced with long finish! All primary and secondary being so young.
Thanks for this! But can you clarify what you mean by āall primary and secondaryā? Itās probably a āme thingā but Iām not following ![]()

For sure, primary is the fruit, floral, herbal, stone notes and the secondary are the oak notes. Tertiary would be notes related to aged characteristics like dry fruits, tobacco, mushroom, etc. Its so young so just lots of fruit and oak notes but nothing aged. This was opened yesterday, not decanted just poured a glass and recorked. Really tight yesterday and felt heavy. Today it opened up a lot more and you can get the fruit notes more distinctly. The longer I sit here i now get some cranberry and violet notes. Nigel makes some incredible wine.
Gotcha! So all fruit and oak with some floral/stone notes. That makes complete sense and frankly what Iād expect with it being so young.
Cheers! ![]()
havent tried one of my aphex yet but the kodo was incredible and absolutely is an auto buy for me now. I think the Kodo and Kaanos have somewhat different profiles than the rhad and anjea. kodo and kaanos will just jump out at you at the first sip and bowl you over. everyone that has tried kodo w me had that āwowā reactiom. the anjea and rhad, to me, are more subtle. still amazing but not as explosive right out of the gate
rest assured if you find you donāt like your allocetion someone here will gladly take them off your hands
Had my WL requests come through yesterday. Iām surprised that Aphex has not sold out yet.
I totally spaced out finalizing my order and was surprised to still see Kodo available today. Lucked out!
