Anybody go the Kinsman tasting today in NYC? Impressions/thoughts on the wines??

I couldn’t make it. It would be good to hear from someone who attended. I thought Shae was going to pour some of the 23’s.

I can ask my friend who went -if nobody chimes in.

From my friend .

Favorites were the 22 Hierothesion and the 21 Rhadamanthus. Only disappointment was the 23 Cab Franc, but I’ll give it a pass bc it’s so young.

From your IG on your death bed: Maligned in its infancy, 2023 Aphex CF is really coming into its own right now.

Got an interesting email today from KE - apparently Nigel typically prefers co-fermentation of CS and CF but in '23 the varieties didn’t ripen at the same time. So hence the genesis of Aphex CF - kind of leads me to believe it will be more of a one - off?

@Bdklein’s friend* reviews and then this email…

Damage control! :upside_down_face::wink:

Got my offer today, the CF was sold out before I opened the email and single bottle of each of the cabs. I’m passing, will leave it on the table for someone else.

Went with a 3-pack of Apex CS

In for a 3-pack each of Aphex and Kodō. Premiums on the large format offerings are a bit too steep for me.

I guess it is all relative - for KE it is about a 17% premium on a volume basis. It is interesting that the French Bordeaux tend to have less of a premium (I actually have some 05 PB where the magnums were cheaper by volume). Of course, some bottlings are crazy with Scarecrow having a 67% premium for a magnum.

I find it a little odd that there are no tasting notes in CT regarding the 2023 single-vineyard wines. Usually, the Kinsman fan bois have published a bunch of glowing reviews based on invite-only tastings. None this year.

I was surprised too. Anyone know what AG said about the wines?
