The Annual German VDP Auktions are a bit later this year, making it feel almost like Christmas is coming early!
I remember being there a few years ago, and tasting all of the wines, hanging out with the wine makers, just an incredible spectacle. This year, I won’t physically be there, but that doesn’t mean we are going to miss out on all the exceptional wines, especially given the stunning quality of the 2023 vintage!
Consider this your formal invitation to participate in the Auktions with us! We had great success last year with the 2022 vintage; this year, it’s the wildly profound 2023 vintage that looks to be as great as any in recent memory - concentration, extract, and a beautiful length & complexity characterize what we’ve seen from all of our favorite producers!
How does it work?
We will provide you with a list of all of the wines that are available to bid on. We will help to determine the MAX bid you’d like and we will handle all of the bidding, logistics, imports.
Just want to say I placed my bids through Thatcher last year and everything went very smoothly, and I was very satisfied. I’ll be working with him again this year.
My expectation is that the auction pricing - will be about similar to last year. Some values to be had. Things like Keller will likely be around the same pricing as last year.
A few interested lots! Those Keller Schub/Petten mags will surely be crazy.
I have been buying from the German auctions bidding via a US resource through Selbach for near on 20 years.
This past year, due to my primary resource retiring- I made the move to Thatcher. Everything went great and I hope to be with you guys another 20 years.
It is a lot easier than many may think. And please remember that for every 500 Euro+ blue chip wine there are many interesting and worthy bottles that sell for less than 40 Euros and will still be well priced rarities after taking into account the various costs for importing etc.
