Will wait half a day to post but your friends overseas can start it up. The 2021 Tensley ended the under $20 with a bang!
Wouldn’t it be better to wait three days?
Under $25? I guess inflation is starting to take hold.
For sure and since this is day 3 on this wine here you go. Back up the truck on this one.

2021 Tensley Syrah - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (12/31/2022)
3 Day World Headquarters New Year’s Celebration (Bloomington, MN): Day 1: Alright 2020 was excellent with a fruit forward style but did not overdo it. This 2021 is off the charts! Can’t believe no one else has reviewed it but here we go. Black pepper, spice, boysenberries, tar, dark cherry, stone and soy sauce. So thankful that my boys from Thomas Liquor reached out to me and said we have a case and was able to get 4. Should have got all 12 but that is not sharing! Now will have to redo my top 10 of the year for under $30. 94+ points
Day 2: Wonderful on day 2. Black pepper, savory spices, floral, tar, dark berries, stone, soy sauce, minerals and dried herbs. Just an amazing, complex wine with a really long finish. Can’t imagine many wines under $20 at this level. 94+ points
Day 3: Still outstanding. Always love those that think wines don’t drink well for 3 days. This is for sure back up the truck and one of the best $20 wines I have sampled in a long time. Just amazing complexity on this wine and a true definition of what California Syrah should smell and taste like. Black pepper, boysenberries, minerals, tar, savory spices, floral, earth, dust and underbrush. 94+ points
Recommendation: Buy all the store has to offer. (94 points)

2018 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (1/3/2023)
Day 1: Another amazing bottle. Better than the 14 Reynvaan Unnamed that I opened a few days ago. Black olives, tar, roasted meats, scorched earth, coffee beans, dark currants baking spices. Super complex wine and on par with just about anything from Walla Walla I have tasted in the last year. 94+ points (94 points)
Off to a good start this year.
2016 Alesia Anderson Valley PN $7.99 and the Chardonnay $5.99.
Sipping the PN now and it is a winner.
Where are you getting that Pinot for $7.99? $42 on tracker average.
I did a double take when I saw these at Grocery Outlet in Reno. Hitting another local GO tonight to see what is new there.
I miss the days of Big Top/ Sid’s Liquor in MN. They used to buy closeouts that were similar deals to what you got. I used to drive by their closeout bins on a regular basis. Some killer deals over the years.
Cheers,
John
I always mention Black Slate in these threads. I had a case of 2018 Porrera last year which was <$25 including delivery. Unfortunately I can’t find it at any retailer who will ship to Ohio. So I’m taking a chance on the 2019 which is more available and still <$25. As far as I know, 2019 was a god year for Spain.
Off the charts for under $25.00. Nothing on the planet better right now then this wine.

2017 Result of a Crush Syrah The Unnamed Series - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (1/13/2023)
Day 1: Best nose in a long time on the pop and pour. Iron, game, minerals, sour raspberries, funk, green olives and white pepper. This is so good I can’t believe they have any left but never underestimate the consumer that think prices is the main factor on quality. Ordering a case right now. 95 points
Opened a 2018 Jose Antonio Garcia Aires de Vendimia Mencia that really surprised me (in a good way!). Mencia and Bierzo don’t get a ton of love around here, or really anywhere, but it’s a great wine and Spain really nails quality for the price. Medium bodied, great acidity, pairs wonderfully with food, but also has nice ripeness that makes it just fine on its own too. There are close to a half dozen of these bottles still out there on WineBid for close to $25/bottle. I grabbed a bunch under that price.
2018 Querciabella Mongrana - $14.97 at WineStreet, seriously great deal!
