Valid question and I get it and you are exploring the human mind with supply and demand. I had the 2007 once and thought it was absolutely unlike any other wine I had. If I were offering now, I think I would and adjust other wine purchases from other clubs. I would drink one and save the other two and keep doing that for special occasions. What about you?
I would think that the waiting list contains people who at the time they signed up wanted the wine but since then have moved on. I wonder if theyāve ever sent out an email asking people if they still want to stay on the waiting list, Iād sure want to check.
Itās far beyond my pay grade to buy and drink it. And Iām not really interested in buying a wine just so I can resell it for a few extra bucks. Iād rather someone like you get it at release price who is actually gonna drink it
I could afford it, but I canāt honestly say that I want to buy it even so. That said, Iād be happy to taste it, which I havenāt.
Yeah I could afford to buy it and drink it. Thereās just other things I would rather do with that money. And Iāve had it a couple times already
The people source their allocations straight from Costco.
Got that beat. On the waiting list since 2006. They said Iād be added soon. That was 3 years ago.
Iād buy and drink it.
Iām with the in crowd, btw.
I would only sell 2 of the 3
They threw me off the list in the early 2000ās. I was selling 2 and keeping 1. Not sure how they found out.
I have posted this before. Occasionally I check to see if my login works (maybe every 3 to 4 years). I signed up in 2015. I checked in 2023 and my login did not work (they changed systems) so I called them and got that straightened out. The guy I talked to was very nice and he told me ābased on current attrition rates, you are probably 20 to 30 years from getting on the active list.ā
So what is the guess on the release price in 2051 when I am 80 years old?
Auction - hammer plus premiums is more like 2000 a bottle for recent vintages. Retail for '21 a bit higher. 4050 still a relative ābargain.ā Interestingly, Harlan actually is more at 4200 for a 3 pack but less of a bargain since they have raised their prices to reflect secondary market.
