2023 Scarecrow release (new vintage)

You think they might do that?

If anyone wants a bottle or two and want to split it based in Philly, PM me

I can look back to the 06 vintage. They have never kept release price the same 3 vintages in a row.

Should be interesting to see. I’d imagine the $600/bottle will be flat for the 2023. If there is an increase it may only be $25/bottle. A great vintage is one thing, but the toughest the market has been in decades is another.

I would expect to see $600 again for 2023 and 2024.
There were defections last year, probably more this year except those holding on for 2023. Don’t want to give them a reason to bolt in 2024. They have to bring the price back in line with reality. I would think the elasticity between $600 and $650 would be pretty severe after 2023.

Has the wine sold out ? Are there still more waves ??? Just curious-TIA.

I think I was in the last wave as a newbie. 2/25
My allocation is still there.
Closed on 3/5 or while supplies last.

I’m none and done. When I signed up I think the price was $450.

I only bought and sold. Too rich for my blood . Think from 2019-2022 (calendar years , not vintage )

They sold out of 3 liters this year at $7200, despite the current market

All 20 of them  Love the story of Scarecrow and wish them the best. The are in company with the $600/bottle wineries that are feeling the current state of the market hence all the new mailing list openings. With such little production and other markets like China, Japan and the middle east, they probably will sell out just fine eventually.

Brings in $144k at 12x bottle price with only 4x the amount of wine. Absurd even in a good market and 20 people still bought it

Do you remember this? That’s $220 in today dollars.

Victim of their own success. No one wants to leave $$ on the table. If there is flipping going on, the producers want to cut into that and pocket the extra $$.

MacDonald may be the only exception to that rule, they are well below secondary market value (and they know it) but intend to remain reasonably priced.

Followed a Zachys auction. In general three packs were around 2000. Exception was 2013 at 2750. 11 vintage was a bargain at 1625

before or after the 25% vig?

All in. Add tax to those prices. When they post the final price they include the 25 pct. Anyhow, the 21 was 1500 for a three pack (strike) but they list final price as 1875. So at 625 a bottle close to release price

Two weeks in and both my allocations (1st and 2nd waves) are still fully available. I wonder if they’ll even be able to add enough new mailing listers to sell all the 2022.

I was on the list and bought up to the 2019 vintage but skipped the 2021 and haven’t been offered the 2022 vintage so I’m guessing they expect to sell out amongst current buyers.

Fear not… they may get to the end of the waiting list this year.
