Same here with a June '22 sign-up.
Signed up a couple years ago and got an offer as well. Those that buy are these worth it at this cost? I mean its essentially first growth bordeaux prices now.
If youâve never had one, it likely isnât worth it. You can buy back vintages for less.
2022 wasnât a great vintage either, unless the price comes down a bit (which it wont), it wonât be worth it.
Scarecrow isnât anything singular you canât find somewhere else.
Iâd split an allocation though. I could swallow the cost of one bottle, but I donât need 3.
passed - many others to buy cheaper
Really? Good years? Where?
neither at retail nor auction
I paid 600 for my 2019 from one of the mailing list dealers. I thought thats where the market was?
I paid $350 per bottle of 2015 on release and $400 per bottle of 2016 and 2017 on release. If anyone can find me these wines for less at retail or auction please let me know as Iâd buy them. It doesnât appear that even the 2017 can be found for less that the low $600âs today.
Obviously you cant find them at the original retail price, but they do pop up occasionally at the current retail.
If ppl buy â22 you definitely should plan to buy â23 as its apparently an epic vintage. If you were going to do one and done, â22 isnt the vintage for that.
The 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011 trade around $600, but those arenât really top years for them.
Those are pretty consistent auction prices over the last year.
Is that with buyerâs premium?
Hard to find anything cheaper than ~$700 including buyerâs premium but I could be wrong as I havenât searched heavily for these vintages or Scarecrow in general
Correct.
Those are the lower rated years. Not that I like calling out ratings here, but there does seem to be a direct correlation.
The 2012 has been averaging $675 recently, and HDH and Zachys had some prices in the low 6s.
I remember buying a 2012 Scarecrow at the LWS I worked at. IIRC I paid around $220 with my 20% employee discount.
I was wondering if they were going to skip the 2022 vintage
What makes you think that?
I know it was a vintage of challenge, but there wasnât any smoke taint to ruin the wine.
I thought they had skipped another vintage because it was challenging and not up to standards
Only one Iâm aware of was 2020.
I should do a 2019 release Iâve got two 3 packs with Perfect Provenance. I didnât even have them shipped. I picked them up personally at the fulfillment house on my way out of Napa, drove them home in an air-conditioned car and immediately dropped them off at my offsite locker. They are triple 100 pointers. Maybe I should visit commerce corner
98 points from Jeb per his report today, FYI
The 2022 is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec, all of which spent 22 months in 65% new French oak. This is easily in the top 2-3 wines in the vintage.
