2019 Terrien Pinot Noir, Marin County

Having learned about Terrien on the board, I bought a mixed case of Chardonnays and was blown away. My next order included this beauty.

Glowing medium ruby color. The aromas feature ripe black cherry with a nice hint of minerals. The palate is fine, the black cherries are there, with raspberry nuances and a vivid fresh character. The texture is exceptional, moderately light in body but voluptuous and velvety. If the flavors are entirely New World, the texture reminds me of a classic Volnay. The finesse and precision of this wine belie its relatively modest price. I’ve never had an American Pinot quite like this, so I’m unsure about possible evolution. But rated 93.5 last night, may improve a point or two over five years or maybe even longer.

I am down to one bottle of 6 of the 2015. Great wine.
