An absolute shocker in 2019. This is a brilliant wine.

Well done, Don! I’ve steered clear of Matrot whites but it sounds like the reds are worth seeking out.

I know there have been a lot of reports of pre-mox on Matrot, but I’ve gradually worked through about a dozen bottles of 2015 and 2016s, mostly PC Meursault and a Puligny, and they have all been fresh and quite good. Still a little concerned about going much longer, but no signs of pre-mox in any of these so far.

Certainly different from my experience with the 2016 PMs.

A note on the 2005 Blagny

Excellent upon opening and even better the second night. Cherry to dark fruited profile, with some savory notes. Very substantial in weight and texture. Open and generous. Definitely in a prime drinking window, but shows no sign of fading. (91 pts.)

Had a 2019 Matrot Santenots the other day and it performed very well!

This is one of the best 2019 Volnays you can have. It is terrific! Better than Y Clerget which is saying something.

This bottling and the Pernot Volnay Carelles used to be stupid cheap for a long time, and provided great value. Haven’t had any recent vintages, but it sounds like they’ve upped their game some.
