2018 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino

Date night at North Italia with my wife. Low and behold they had the 2018 on the wine list. Being Wine Spectator’s #1 wine of 2023, I had to order it, and the price had not been altered due to its rating. This classic Brunello featured strawberry, cherry, and orange zest with hints of tobacco and leather. It definitely showed its youth with mouth-watering acidity and chalky tannins, but so beautiful at this young age. It paired perfectly with my braised short ribs over mascarpone polenta.

It’s a mandate for that group and as they are a chain you shouldn’t see any price inflations, by the bottle isn’t a huge money maker for that group so it becomes an after thought.
