2017 Pym-Rae ‘Tesseron Estate’

Have an allocation offer for this at 265 a bottle? Can anyone tell me about the estate or the wine?

I usually do not spend this much on a bottle, but curious.

Pretty sure this is from the team at Pontet Canet up on Mt. Veeder.

Just curious if anyone has tried these wines?

High up on the western hills of Napa Valley, a new estate is producing wines that deserve the attention of every wine lover. The Pym Rae estate is the American outpost of the Tesseron empire, of which the most well-known wine property is Pauillac’s Château Pontet Canet. Pym Rae used to belong to, and retains the name of the children of, the late Robin Williams. It sits at 450m in the Mt. Veeder AVA and produces red wines largely from Cabernet Sauvignon.

Both show the dark, focused fruit of Mount Veeder, with an impressive mineral core.

These are stunning wines of great structure and stature, and brilliant additions to the pantheon of leading Napa wines.

$345 for 2016 and $379 for 2017!

I’ve had two vintages of this wine. Impressive, though difficult to evaluate young. The wines I had were massive in structure. Bags of tannin. Very well built wines that should be superb at 10-15 years of age.

The pricing is absurd but about right for the category.

Thank you. Pricing is crazy.

Just got mailer of $1170 for 3 pk of 2020.
Insane.
I’ll rather own a case of their Pontet Canet at that same price.

This was recently marked down to $99 at my local Costco (I didn’t bite) and it still took 2-3 weeks to sell out…
