2017 Battenfeld-Spanier Liquid Earth

Has anyone tried this ridiculously good dry riesling? I tried the 2017 last night and I think it’s safe to say that this is one of the best dry rieslings I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. So much power and acidify, it should easily go for 30+ years and I’m glad that I have quite a bit more. Tons of limestone, beeswax, and green orchard fruits. I couldn’t find anything on this site (or many others) about this wine, which surprised me as I think it’s incredible.

It’s rare, and expensive. In the few years I’ve been aware of Battenfeld-Spanier, I think I’ve only ever seen it on offer once. Sounds like it may be worth the price and effort required to acquire it, though!

Good timing. This wine has recently crossed my radar.

There has been a bunch on Winebid the past few months. Looks like only 2 left unless they are holding back more.

Big Battenfeld-Spanier fan (their Spatburgunders are remarkable) but I just can’t see dropping $200 on a dry Riesling. Their GG’s are much better priced. But I sure am curious…
