2015 Year To Date T/N: Sojourn

  • 2008 Sojourn Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/29/2015)
I last drank this 3 months ago. How does an '08 wine improved so dramatically in 3 months? This was absolutely stunning tonight. Perfume nose. Spice. Cherries. Smooth. Dinner at MP taverna with Janet and Lew. (93 pts.)
  • 2010 Sojourn Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/8/2015)
Pop 'n Pour birthday wine with Jane, Mitch et al. A feminine wine. Light and elegant, with a taste of cherries. Tasted alongside a 2010 Ridgetop, which was masculine and bold. My wife + non-geek friends preferred the Gaps Crown. I thought it was a toss up. When everyone at the table (waitress included) saw 2 bottles of the ‘same’ wine, they were perplexed; until I explained that these wines were from 2 vineyards. (93 pts.)
  • 2007 Sojourn Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain - USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain (2/23/2015)
Drank this with WineBerserkers at Di Fara’s pizza in Brooklyn. Drinkable on pop 'n pour. This was singing after being opened for 90 minutes! Several people at my end of the table were ‘in love’. Glad I have another bottle. Drink or hold. I’ll save my other bottle for 2016. (93 pts.)
  • 2012 Sojourn Cabernet Sauvignon Home Ranch Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (1/27/2015)
Really dark on pop n pour. A hint of acid and tannins at first taste after 60 minutes. Smooth wine to start. Raisin nose? Some tannins after 4 hours. Acid is gone. Drinking well now, but expect this to improve with age. (90 pts.)
  • 2008 Sojourn Pinot Noir Sangiacomo Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/17/2015)
Popped this for my sister at her birthday party. I didn’t taste anything this time vs my last note. The wine was tangy. I’m guessing it was flawed. NR (flawed)
  • 2012 Sojourn Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/14/2015)
I think this is where I say holy s… This wine is on the darker side for a pinot. Full bodied. Smooth. Dark cherries. Some spice. This kept improving as the evening progressed. One of the best Sojourns I’ve had in several years. Outstanding. I originally tasted this at Pinot Fest in NY in January 2014. Drink now, or hold. I’m guessing this will increase by a point or 2 with age. (93 pts.)
  • 2012 Sojourn Pinot Noir Wohler Vineyard Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (1/9/2015)
The color was very pretty. A semi dark glassy see through color. Smooth and elegant going down. Mid-weight. Some spice as the wine opened up. A hint of tannins (where that come from?) at 90 minutes into the bottle, that wasn’t there after an additional 90 minutes past. I tasted cranberries at that point. Drank this wilth a simply prepared salmon. Wonder how this will taste with some age? (91 pts.)
  • 2013 Sojourn Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (12/26/2014)
This is a really dark and pretty purple wine. On p’n’p it was smooth, and ready to drink. Fragrant nose. I thought this was almost as good as the 2012. Drank this with salmon over 3 hours. (92 pts.)
