Seeing some releases in Europe for €210ish
I imagine this will be an early drinker, not buying any.

They skip 2014 I’m assuming?
Idk, it’s weird bc I think 14 is a better vintage
Maybe will release out of order a la 08/09?
Yeah I was wondering about that, but didn’t think 14 was that much better a vintage to warrant that. Maybe @William_Kelley or @Brad_Baker will know.
No DP 2014 and no DP 2016. 2015 will be released next and then 2017. I have enjoyed the 2015 in pre-release status. It has a bright lime note that I find in many of the wines from the vintage. To me, it is a very worthy DP, showcases the vintage, and shows what could be done with the vintage. It is opposite to the 2013 and those looking for a classic DP may not like the more outgoing and sunshine style of the 2015.
Overall, for a large volume producer, 2014 and 2016 are not as good a vintage as 2015. Especially from a winemaking perspective at harvest/blending. 2015 also has a unique expression that makes it a good vintage choice from my eyes. It showcases a very unique year and one that we may see more of over time. 2014 and 2016 are solid NV years and can be great, but mostly for lower volume cuvees. 2017 is also a more difficult vintage, but the Chardonnays were quite strong and gave a challenge to a winemaker to see what they could do - kind of a bit like 2010. This is what drove DP to go after 2017.
Why on earth would anyone pay more for this than the 12 and 13?
825/6 IB, not sure what the 12/13 cost. Probably completionists.
Yeah hearing about how it might compare to 10 makes it a hard pass à la the 11 Krug.
You can get them still for 780/825. You can even get 3 mags of the 12 for 835.
Problem is if it’s just “completionists” then the price will continue to drop as it already has done immediately today. Hence, my comment!
2015 DP is in no way similar to the 2010 DP in style or flavor. It is actually closer to 2013 than 2010 though it isn’t very close to either. Hard to find a vintage to compare 2015 DP to. Maybe if you took 50% 2009, 25% 2012, and 25% 2004 you would kind of get something similar. In all honesty, it doesn’t really have a direct correlation.
2012 @ £730 /6
2013 @ £776 /6
… haven’t really followed closely the opinions on respective vintages, but it certainly looks like a healthy premium.
Here is another question, buy 2015 @ £875 /6 or 2008 at £950 /6 (only 8.5% premium) … hmmmm… thoughts anyone ?
I like 08 best of those but it’ll likely need the longest time.
Agreed completely
08 if I didn’t already have dozens of cases.
Dozen of cases. Crazy!
Like the others 2008 unless you want to drink right away. 2008 for me is a knockout and you are barely paying a premium over the other vintages.
2008 DP is the best champagne ive ever had. I liked it better than 08 comtes and 08 cristal when i had it 1.5 years ago.
Depending on your style preference, don’t try Selosse SVDs or Salon… trust me, don’t do it…
Anyone try it (the 2015)? The have it BTG tomorrow (65 euros; special occasion restaurant).
Loved the 08 and 12, didn’t care for the 13.
