Ok so Harald Hexamer wins an award for the length and complexity of the name of the wine! But what a pretty and delicious wine it is…
2012 Hexamer Schlossbockelheimer In Den Felsen Riesling Feinherb “Porphyr”. very pale straw, complicated nose, less obviously floral and something a bit darker toned. palate is a nice mix of exotic green guava style tropical fruits with a ton on minerally rocky stuff (Porphyry being a purplish intrusive igneous rock with large grained crystals in a background of fine grained feldspar). Nice balance of fruitiness and acidity as I would hope from a feinherb. As geologist I seriously doubt I can taste Porhyry but this wine has me seriously confused. I love this for its freshness and its easy pleasure. Way too easy to drink right now. Have had two bottles in the last month and see more in my near term future.
