2010 Le Ragnaie BdM

After having a Ragnaie Rosso a few years back I’ve been looking to pick up their Brunello. Got a couple of ‘10s and popped one tonight. And yes it was excellent. TN:

This is really a rock solid 93 pointer but I’m adding one more point for flat out deliciousness. Gorgeous nose of earthy spiced cherries, long finish. The palate is loaded with dark cherry goodness, med+ or better richness, crunchy with this really peppery flavorful finish. Fantastic complement to dinner, goes with everything. White truffle mezzaluna pasta went especially well. Yes it had me dreaming of Barolo but the Brunello was no 2nd rate citizen for this meal, with its earthy richness. Lacking the complexity needed for a higher score but an excellent wine.

I’ve seen some TNs for Ragnaie calling this wine Burgundian, but I didn’t really see it. This is a lot bigger and richer than most red Burgs. More of a Bordeaux lover’s Brunello if that makes any sense.
