When you spend a few minutes doing research on Matrot Meursault’s on the Cornwell white Burgundy Premox wiki, this gets brought into perspective pretty quickly.
I’m sure that review and all reviews have the rider subject to cork doing its job.
Matrot wines can age superbly well. I’ve 2004s that still had 20 years in the tank. Thierry is as frustrated as anyone with cork and has moved a few of his wines to screwcap, including 100% of the bourgogne chardonnay.
2003 will likely be the least premoxed of the vintages in the 2000’s. If you find a wine that seems flawed, it’s likely reductive. Not that it’s my favorite vintage…
Way too bad about this producer’s premox issues as the Pierrires is stunning when in good shape. I bought and drank 4 btls of the 07. Two were completely DOA and two were as youthfully vibrant and sexy a Meursault could ever be.
