2008 Yellow Tail Merlot

So, I’ve heard for the nearly three years I’ve been drinking wine comments like “it’s not as bad as Yellow Tail”. Well, I get it now. It’s not good, if you have even a remote interest in wine, but I think most people drink it because it is “classier” than Boones Farm and for that crowd, this works.

Had this tonight at the Nets game. Served from magnum. No nose, no finish whatsoever. Lots of dark fruit in the mouth with a little wood, but not much to speak of. I totally get how this sells. It’s big, sweet and fruity and doesn’t conflict with food because it disappears at the midpalate. It goes down like a Sierra Mist or Sprite Zero does. I couldn’t finish a glass (or a plastic cup, to be more precise) but I get how other people how aren’t interested in wine do.

It’s the gateway drug to wine. I started off with Rosemount black diamond label and this. Phased this out pretty quickly, stayed with the Rosemount and went on to others. Definitely a crowd pleaser for those who aren’t into wine.

Mags are better for aging.

Yeah, I heard out of the mag they can age for a good 2 months.

Yellow Tail? Obviously this is my kind of Board. Any threads on Cisco Red yet?

Yippee, Mike is here. No threads yet but we need to get the SF one going in Asylum !

Lately anytime I’m around non-wine peeps they all rave about Folie a Deux Menage a Trois. Is this the new Yellowtail?

Hi Carrie!!!

Good to see you girl!

Where do Giant blogs go here? Is there a Social Hall?

I think they are immediately deleted. Go Dodgers!!!

" It goes down like a Sierra Mist or Sprite Zero does"

That is good Cheryl!!!

I like Yellow Tail more than MollyDooker.

No midpalate? Yellow Tail lovers are missing the front, mid-, and back-palate.

Be grateful. Imagine if that taste had a 60 second finish!! [blink.gif] [suicide.gif]

And boy was I afraid to even open this thread… thinking “Cheryl has lost it… she’s drinking YT”

Luckily my faith is restored

Well it’s about time!
Go to the ASYLUM. Bwahahahahahaha

I am awaiting the 4 litre size.

You also have to remember that it was an '08. Might need some more time in the bottle to settle down a bit…then I bet it will be fabulous!

Can’t waot for the mailer on the '09’s! I think they are shipping allocations the first week in March. I went all in! MMM MMM GOOD! [rofl.gif] -mJ

Yeah, we’re not snobs!

I had this discussion last night with Kristi concerning my snobbery surrounding wine and food…she thinks I am a snob. Go figure.

Cheryl, did you consider bottle shock?

Most def.

I am assuming that this was the regular bottling…the Reserve bottling is much much better IMHO! -mJ
