I’m betting at least some of that (if not most or all) made it to retail either via some ITB and on the list or somebody ITB buying from somebody on the list that was basically flipping it straight out of the gate.
This might be true but I don’t think it’s really worth it. The Raven’s were $135 off the list, after tax and shipping you were looking at $150-160ish. There were a number of retailers here in MA selling both for $160-180ish. There is some room for profit but not much at all.
I have had in my possession, thirteen bottles of SQN. Have drank seven of them and traded two out for some nice CA cabs (don’t consider this flipping). I have paid release, a bit above release and traded for all of mine. If I ever do make the list, I won’t flip a thing as I am a drinker.
I am really excited. With the postcard I received today, I now have enough material to finish that all-SQN-no-soup-for-you-card double-decker suspension bridge over the Potomac, with enough left over to wallpaper the Verizon Center.
Not on the list, another postcard recipient here. Purchased some 05/06’s via retail and board members and will do the same with 07. If I made the list I would buy all sweets and reds with out a doubt. As for the whites and rose’s, I would probably offer to those not on the list.
Oh those are interesting questions, I agree. And I can’t imagine that anyone on the SQN list would be willing to admit publicly that they flip any of the wines…
I told you, I am convinced that it was the repulsive energy buffer (okay, tin foil beanie), deflecting the psychotronic energy, that finally did it for me. How else to explain this, after what seems like nine years on the waiting list?
I have been on the list for over 5 years, I have never flipped a bottle of SQN. I have no problem whatsoever with those that do flip.
However, I have sold bottles at cost to my local wine pals and will most likely do it again. In the past I have done this just to spread the good wine karma. I would be a liar if did not admit that this year, I will do it again, in part, due to $$$ shortages.
Is partly why I’m asking . . . and also because unlike ANY other recent offer - including Carlisle and Saxum - NO ONE is going to ‘leave any on the table’ it appears . . .
Manfred stated that he had no “issues” with people flipping wines. “It’s theirs to do with as they please” However, he was very concerned that if the wines were not stored and treated properly, the wine might reflect badly on SQN.
One idea I had a while back was to offer to share my allocation at cost for people who offered to make a charitable contribution to my legal aid group. I did end up getting a few takers on that one.
