2007 Harris Estate Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Treva’s Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/6/2014)
Had over two nights.
This wine is inky purple. On the first night there was so much oak showing on the nose. And something slightly weird. I could not put my finger on it. On the second night the weird thing was gone. Smells like a big oaky Napa Cab. Very nice. This is a big style done right. Lots of dark fruit but also a great red berry thing happening. A touch of eucalyptus. The acid and relative lightness on the palate make this work. Not a style I could drink on a regular basis but sometimes it hits to spot. Tonight was one of those nights. (91 pts.)

2006 St. Innocent Chardonnay Dijon Clone Freedom Hill Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (1/2/2014)
We know that 2006 not a great vintage for pinot noir but I wanted to check a Chardonnay is I was a little more upbeat when it came to these. We had this over two nights. The aromatics were a little advanced show some oxidization and toffee but the aspect of pears broke right through. Same on both nights. There is some perceived sweetness on the palate. Compelling oily texture. Richness. Full flavored and medium bodied. Very good. Might even keep longer but the oxidization would concern me. (88 pts.)
Cheers,
Jason
